How long does my hair need to be?

Hair must be at least 1/8 of an inch long for the sugar to be able to grab it, about as long as a grain of rice. If you have been shaving you will need to allow at least two full weeks of growth so that all the hairs are long enough. This might seem like a lot but it will make it less painful for you and it will make it less likely that little stubble hairs will be missed. If you are coming from your last waxing or sugaring service, it’s best to allow at least four weeks of growth from that point. Your hair may grow faster or slower and everyone is different, but four weeks is typically when the new baby hairs have come in just enough from your last service to be sugared again.   

Sugaring is much more gentle on your skin and hair folicle than traditional wax , however it is still removal of hair from the root and does have associated pain. Additonally, first time services or services after long gaps of shaving or no removal can be a bit more painful than follow up services. It helps to be properly hydrated and not overly caffienated. It can also helpful to take an ibuprofen about a half hour/hour before your service time.   I do not personally recommend the use of lidocaine numbing cream. It may help dull the pain a little but it is usually oily and affects the sugar and results in hairs being missed. It can also add to or worsen hyperpigmentation issues.   If you are stressed out prior to your appointment it will likely register as more painful, so something to keep in mind as well.

For sure! Sometimes you may be a little more sensitive during this time so if you want to reschedule due to your own comfort that is fine, but I can still do all bikini services if you arrive wearing a tampon or cup.  

Men and people with penises are welcome at Flora. Though I am unable to offer brazillians or bermudas to clients having penises you are welcome to book all other bikini services where the penis can remain fully draped, including backside and bikini line as well as all other body and face services (brow, nose, back etc.) 

You do not need to trim or shave the area to be sugared. In fact it is better if you don't so that I can be sure all the hairs are long enough for the sugar to grab.  You do not have to clean up to come see me! That is my job and it will help make sure that I can do the best job possible if you just come as you are!  If your hair is crazy long and would result in pulling I will trim it during the service.  

You are never too old to try sugaring! I have clients of all ages. It's totally normal to try sugaring for the first time later in life. You are so welcome here and I hope you feel right at home! 

What if you're a minor?  One of my very favorite things is to get to be the one to shape a teen or pre-teens brows for the first time! It's such an honor! I also take pride in providing a safe and gentle environment for younger clients to get their lip, arms, legs or underarms sugared. It can be really empowering and help boost self confidence. However there are age limitations for minors as follows:

• I cannot sugar anyone under 12. 

• I cannot offer bikini services to anyone under 16 

• I cannot offer Brazilian or Bermuda services to anyone under 18. 

• Anyone 16 or under will need to have their parent or guardian in attendance and a consent form will need to be signed. 

Appointments are booked back to back and some appointment times are only 15 mins long.  If you find yourself running more than fifteen minutes (five mins for brow, underarm and lip appointments) behind your scheduled time please be aware that you may end up having to be rescheduled. I do understand sometimes stuff happens and I will always  do my best to still fit you in if I possibly can.   

At this time I do not charge a last minute cancelation fee for my clients. However please be aware that when you book an appointment that time is being held especially for you.  

If you cannot make your appointment please cancel as soon as possible so that your vacancy can potentially be filled by another client. At least a 24 hour notice is greatly appreciated.  As an independently-owned small business last minute cancelations and no-shows become very expensive.

Please note that if you no call/no show or if you cancel within 24 hours more than twice in a row you may be asked to prepay for your next appointment to rebook. This prepayment is not refundable but can be rescheduled one time. Thank you so much for your understanding!
